In Brevard, most homes and cabins run on propane rather than a gas main, and a sealed propane fireplace isn't affected by any burn ban. The restrictions that come up here are Transylvania County open-burning orders in dry fall weather and voluntary air-quality days — both aimed at outdoor burning, not the fire inside your house.
Propane country, and what a ban does and doesn't do
Brevard is propane territory — the cabins tucked around Connestee Falls, Sherwood Forest, and out toward Pisgah Forest usually run on a tank, not a natural-gas line. When Transylvania County or the NC Forest Service calls an open-burning ban in a dry fall, it's restricting brush piles, leaf burning, and outdoor fires to keep a wildfire from starting.
