Can my fireplace be converted from propane to natural gas later if gas service reaches my neighborhood?
The conversion is easy; the main is the problem. Brevard is propane country — natural-gas service is thin here, and out toward Connestee Falls, Sherwood Forest, and the cabins it realistically may never arrive. So yes, a propane fireplace can be converted with a kit, but choose your setup as permanent, because for most Transylvania County homes it is.
Propane is the answer here, not a stopgap
Extending a natural-gas main is expensive, and utilities run pipe where the population and money already are — not up the wooded lots and gorge roads that define Transylvania County. Downtown you might sit nearer service, but for the bulk of Brevard-area homes a well-chosen LP fireplace is the right long-term heat, full stop.
