Propane country meets the mains
Brevard is genuinely mixed — natural gas serves parts of town, while the cabins tucked up the mountain roads toward Cedar Mountain and Connestee Falls run on propane. That distinction drives everything about the altitude correction. Propane carries more energy per cubic foot and burns hotter, so its orifices are smaller and its pressures different from natural gas; layer 2,230 feet of elevation on top and you have two variables that both have to be dialed in. Get either wrong and the firebox soots.
The wet climate is a separate problem
