On Asheville's gas mains, a pit taps a buried line and simply never runs dry: no propane gauge to watch, no mid-gathering swap. In Montford and North Asheville, where original-masonry homes already carry the character indoors, a low, clean flame keeps a courtyard uncluttered. Newer South Asheville builds often have a gas stub roughed in near the deck, which shortens the run considerably.
Where wood still earns its keep
Plenty of Asheville homeowners want the real thing — crackle, the smell that follows you inside, coals worth roasting over. A wood pit costs less to build, needs no fuel line, and answers to no meter. If your weekends are built around actual campfires with the kids, that's the honest pick, and we build them.
