Start with the fuel: Brevard and Transylvania County are propane country, and most streets here have no natural-gas main to extend from at all. When there's nothing at the curb, chasing an extension rarely makes sense — a propane system is the faster, smarter path. Where a main does reach, we run licensed pipe from the meter. Why propane usually wins here
Much of Brevard, its cabins, and the surrounding Transylvania mountains simply aren't served by gas mains, so there's often no line at the street to extend. That isn't a problem — propane does everything natural gas does for a fireplace, it just comes from a tank instead of a main. Connecting it is still licensed gas work: we set the regulator, run and pressure-test the piping, and configure the appliance for LP, while the tank itself is coordinated with your propane supplier. A showroom or a mason legally can't do that side in North Carolina; a licensed gas contractor can.

On the rare Brevard street where a main is close, an extension becomes licensed pipe from your meter to the hearth, permitted through the Transylvania County office and pressure-tested.
