Napoleon and Regency aren't fighting over the same customer most of the time. Napoleon's strength is gas — a deep lineup at honest prices, from everyday direct-vent units to modern linears. Regency's soul is serious wood-burning — EPA-certified fireplaces and stoves designed for overnight burns and off-grid heat — alongside a respected gas line of its own. The Ascent 36 is our best-selling everyday gas fireplace — 26,500 BTU, direct-vent, PHAZER logs — and the Vector 50 covers the modern linear look with a 50-inch ribbon of flame at 40,000 BTU. For an existing masonry fireplace, the Oakville X4 insert converts it to sealed, efficient gas heat. And running through the line: battery-backup ignition, so the fire still lights with the power out — a feature WNC learned to price correctly after Helene. Regency builds quality gas inserts too — the Horizon and City series are worth seeing — but Napoleon's breadth and value make it our usual first recommendation on the gas side.
