A manufactured home starts from a cleaner sheet: install a direct-vent unit approved for manufactured housing and you're sealed from day one, with outdoor combustion air and a wall vent instead of an open flue bleeding warmth all night.

The approval is the gatekeeper. HUD code limits manufactured homes to appliances listed for that construction, which quietly disqualifies much of what you'd see in a big-box aisle or a furniture showroom. We check the listing first, then match output to your square footage — the rule of thumb runs about 20 Btu per square foot, and WNC's climate pushes it up. Electric remains the fallback for a room that only needs ambiance — honest supplemental warmth, nothing more, and nothing at all when the power's out.
