Why does my ventless gas fireplace keep shutting itself off?

Out here on LP, a vent-free unit's oxygen sensor snuffs the burner if the pilot flame reads wrong — and after weeks idle in this wet, 80-inch-rainfall climate, a dust- or web-fouled pilot, or a damp, corroded one, trips the safety long before your air ever runs short.
Propane cabins that light only a few times a season
A lot of Brevard homes and Connestee Falls cabins run on propane, and their fireplaces sit cold for long stretches. That downtime is exactly when insects and dust move into the pilot assembly. Add propane's own quirks — a low tank or a regulator set slightly off pressure can weaken the pilot flame — and the sensor drops the burner out on the first cold night you actually want it. A pre-season service clears all of that.
Transylvania's damp works against the pilot
