Because the firebox is open front and rear, these units vent vertically through the roof with a coaxial pipe, and clearances are tighter than a standard fireplace — details our NFI-certified installers plan before framing. We size the appliance to the wall thickness, run and pressure-test the gas piping under our contractor's license, secure the permit, and dial in the flame on both viewing sides so it reads beautifully from either room.
