Are ventless gas fireplaces worth the savings, given the trade-offs?
Brevard is the town where the ventless trade-off deserves the hardest look. But vent-free returns water vapor to the space along with that heat. It's not that ventless is unsafe — it's that its one drawback happens to be your climate's specialty.
Propane country and the rules that travel with it
Much of Brevard runs on propane rather than a gas main, and vent-free comes configured for LP — but the fundamentals don't change with the fuel. Every unit carries an oxygen depletion sensor and a firm room-size Btu limit, and the category is restricted or prohibited in some applications, bedrooms and baths especially.
