Can I use a gas fire pit during a burn ban in North Carolina?

But Brevard sits right against Pisgah National Forest, so a federal or state Forest Service restriction can run at the same time as a county ban. Check both before you light.
Two agencies can restrict fire here at once
Brevard is ringed by public forest, and that changes the picture. The North Carolina Forest Service or Transylvania County can declare an open-burning ban, and the U.S. Forest Service can issue its own fire restrictions on the Pisgah land next door — the orders are separate and don't always match. A gas fire pit is typically outside a standard open-burning ban, the same as a gas grill, but during a stricter 'no open flame' order every assumption gets re-read. Confirm the active declarations with the county and, if you're near the forest boundary, the ranger district too.

That's when bans land. A wood fire throws embers into that; a gas pit doesn't, which is why it stays usable through fire season around Connestee Falls, Sherwood Forest, and downtown. Gated communities like Connestee Falls may also add their own outdoor-flame rules, so check those alongside the county order.
