Can my landscaper build the fire pit enclosure while a licensed gas company installs the burner and gas line?

Who does what

Your landscaper or hardscaper owns the structure: the compacted base, the paver or block enclosure, the drainage, and the finished stonework. We own the fire: the burner kit and pan sized to their opening, the gas line, the key valve and shutoff, the air vents, the regulator and ignition, and the permit and inspection.

The key is coordinating early. We set the burner pan to match their enclosure dimensions, so we like to talk before the block goes up — not after it's capped and sealed.

Why the split is required, not just convenient

This isn't only about who's best at what — it's the law. In North Carolina, running or extending a gas line is licensed work. A landscaper, mason, or hardscaper can build you a gorgeous enclosure, but they legally cannot connect it to fuel. We can, and we pull the permit with your county — Buncombe, Henderson, Haywood, or Transylvania — and meet the inspector.

That keeps one accountable licensed company on the part that actually makes fire and heat.

Coordinating cleanly

A few things make the handoff smooth: leave us a sleeve or chase so the gas line can reach the burner, build in the air vents the enclosure needs so propane can't pool low, and don't seal the pit up before we've set and tested the burner.
