Can I add a fireplace or fire pit to my outdoor kitchen design?

Absolutely — a fire pit or outdoor fireplace is one of the most popular pairings with an outdoor kitchen, and building it in at the same time is the smart move. We run one properly sized gas line to feed the grill, the fire feature, and any patio heater, while your hardscaper builds the counters and enclosure. One permit, one gas contractor.

Design the fire feature into the build

The best time to add a fire pit or outdoor fireplace to an outdoor kitchen is while it's still on paper. When the gas is roughed in during construction, we can size a single line to carry the grill, the fire feature, and a heater all at once, and place the stub-outs exactly where they need to be — no trenching across a finished patio or opening up new stonework later. Retrofitting after everything's poured and set is doable, but it always costs more and disrupts more than planning it in from the start.

Who handles what

This is a coordinated job, and we're clear about our lane. Steady Flame handles everything that makes fire and heat: the gas line, the burner or firebox, the appliance connections, the venting for a fireplace, plus the permit and inspection. Your hardscaper or builder pours the pad and builds the counters, cabinetry, and enclosure. We coordinate the two so the gas is stubbed where the mason needs it and the appliances drop in clean. You get one accountable licensed gas contractor on the fire side instead of hunting for someone to make it burn after the fact.

Fireplace or fire pit for the space

Which one depends on how you use the space. A fire pit gives you 360-degree seating and a lower profile — great for gathering a group beside the grill. An outdoor fireplace anchors one end of the patio, blocks wind far better on an exposed lot, and throws radiant heat forward, which earns its keep through our long cool-evening season. We carry outdoor-capable gas fireplaces and design gas fire pits to match your layout. Visit the Asheville showroom or call (828) 545-0525 to plan it with your kitchen.
