How far should a fire pit be from the grill or outdoor kitchen?

Two different distances: safety and comfort
Spacing a fire pit near an outdoor kitchen is really two questions. The safety one is clearance: the pit has to sit far enough from combustible cabinetry, wood structures, a propane tank, and anything that can catch a spark or take sustained radiant heat. The comfort one is flow: people naturally gather and pull chairs around a fire pit, and you don't want that circle backed up against a hot grill or blocking the cook's work zone. A pit crammed next to the grill fails on both counts at once.
Follow the manufacturer and local code
There isn't a universal number for how many feet must separate a fire pit from a grill, but every fire feature comes with required clearances to structures and combustible materials, and those govern. Local code and your county's requirements layer on top — clearances to the house, to the property line, and to overhead cover.
