Shape doesn't shorten lifespan.

So if you love the modern look, you're not trading away durability to get it. A linear unit installed and serviced well will run just as long.

More electronics, one caveat

The honest nuance: modern linear units tend to carry more technology — electronic ignition, app or touch controls like IntelliFire Touch, sometimes cool-wall designs that let a TV sit above. More electronics means the control board and ignition module are the parts most likely to need attention down the road, more so than on a simple millivolt traditional unit. They're serviceable, replaceable parts, not fatal flaws.

One tradeoff worth knowing: units that rely fully on electronic ignition need power to light. If outage-proof heat is a priority, ask us about battery-backup ignition or a millivolt unit like the Valor H5, which throws heat with zero electricity.

Built to keep looking modern

Longevity for a linear unit is as much about the glass and the finish as the mechanicals.
