Unplug the unit and let it cool, then gently remove the acrylic ember crystals or log pieces and dust them with a soft dry cloth or a vacuum on low — no water, no cleaners on the media, since these sit right over the LED lights. Wipe the clear lens or glass above the lights separately, reassemble, and you're done. It's a five-minute job a couple of times a year.
Safety and access first
Always unplug an electric fireplace before you reach inside — this isn't a gas unit with a pilot, but it's still line voltage and LED electronics, so kill the power and let any heater warmth fade. The decorative media sits in a tray or on a shelf directly above the LED light bar that makes it glow: clear or amber acrylic ice crystals, molded logs, or glass chips depending on the model, like the crystal-and-log looks Dimplex uses. The gentle clean
Dust is the whole problem — a film on the crystals or logs dulls the flame effect and makes the fireplace look tired. Keep it dry: water and household cleaners can cloud or damage acrylic media and shouldn't go near the LEDs underneath. Reassemble and how often
