Sylva sits in Jackson County, so its fire-pit setback and permit go through that county's office, not the ones nearer Asheville. We serve this end of the mountains and pull the Jackson permit and meet the inspector as part of the job.

Near WCU, heavily used rental housing argues for a sealed, listed gas fire pit a tenant can't misjudge: no embers, lit and killed at a valve, held only to its rated clearance.
