How many BTUs per square foot do I need to heat a room with a fireplace?
Candler is propane country across much of its rural stretch, though gas mains now reach some of the newer Enka-Candler subdivisions — so the first sizing question is which fuel you're on. Either way, plan around 20 BTUs per square foot as a floor for our climate, and know that propane's hotter burn calls for its own orifices even at the same BTU target.
Which fuel, and why it matters

Many of Candler's new subdivisions were finished with basic decorative builder-grade fireboxes, and owners often want a real heat-producing upgrade within a few years.
