How much does a gas fireplace insert cost installed?

In Flat Rock, your insert cost is driven less by the appliance than by the chimney behind it: many homes here date to the 1800s, with oversized open masonry fireplaces and clay flue liners that have aged over a century. A sealed insert cures the draft and preserves the mantel — but sizing a liner to that old flue is where the real work, and the real cost, lives.

Old flues, honest liners

Historic Flat Rock's original hearths were built enormous and open, and after a hundred-plus years those clay liners crack, gap, and shed. An insert can't go into that flue safely without a correctly sized stainless liner — and the height and condition of your particular chimney set what that liner costs. A free inspection tells us exactly what your flue needs before a number ever gets quoted, which on a house this age is money well spent.

Comfort without losing the character

Those grand open fireplaces do more harm than good on a cold night — they pull warmed room air straight up the chimney and draft cold air in behind it. A sealed insert stops the draft and turns the opening into a heater running 70 percent efficient or better, all while keeping the historic surround and mantel you'd never want to lose. It's the upgrade that respects the house.

On the gas main, and permitted right

Flat Rock sits on natural gas, so the fuel line is usually a short, straightforward run. Connecting it is licensed work — a mason who can rebuild your firebox still can't legally connect the gas; we do, we pull the Henderson County permit, and we pressure-test the line. Thirty minutes south of our Asheville showroom, we'll assess your historic hearth free: call (828) 545-0525.
