How much does a chimney liner cost when installing a gas or wood insert?
On a typical insert project the chimney liner is a real but minor share of the total — a stainless flex liner sized to the new unit and run the full height of the chimney. Height, diameter, insulation, and how tricky your flue is set the price; a tall two-story stack or an offset flue pushes it up. It's not optional, so budget for it from the start.
Why every insert we install gets one
Dropping an insert into an old chimney without a liner dumps its exhaust into a flue several sizes too big. The draft goes lazy, moisture condenses in the masonry, and on a wood insert that oversized, cold flue becomes a creosote factory.
