How much does it cost to get connected to natural gas service?

The county is mixed: some in-town streets reach a main, while Dillsboro and Cullowhee largely run propane. Whichever applies, the permit is pulled through Jackson County, not Buncombe. A different county, a different permit office
Most of our towns fall under Buncombe, Henderson, Haywood, or Transylvania, but Sylva is Jackson County — so the gas-line permit and the inspector come from there. That's our job to handle. In North Carolina, running the line from your meter to the fireplace is licensed gas-piping work, and we permit it, pressure-test it, and meet the Jackson County inspector, whether it's a downtown Sylva home or a Dillsboro cottage. The distance from Asheville doesn't change how we do the work — it just means we plan the visit.

Where a natural-gas main reaches part of Sylva, the utility owns and prices the pipe up to your meter, mostly by distance.
