Natural gas across the Asheville area is distributed by Enbridge Gas North Carolina — the company plenty of neighbors still know as PSNC, its name for decades, which billed as Dominion Energy North Carolina for a few years before Enbridge acquired it in 2024. They own and maintain the mains under the street and the meter mounted on the side of your house.

Everything downstream of that meter, the branch line that actually feeds your fireplace, is our lane and no one else's. In North Carolina, running or extending a gas line is licensed work, so a furniture showroom or a mason can sell you a beautiful firebox, but they legally can't connect it to fuel. We can, and we permit and pressure-test every line we run.

Checking whether it reaches your street

Call the utility and give them your service address. They'll tell you whether a main already runs down your street, whether your home has a meter, and what a new tap or service extension would cost, since that connection charge is theirs to quote, not ours.

Availability follows the mains: much of Asheville, Hendersonville, Fletcher, and Arden sits on natural gas, while Fairview, Candler, Brevard, and the cabins tucked up our mountain roads are propane country. If a main doesn't reach you, that's not a dead end, because a propane system runs the exact same fireplaces.
