Who supplies natural gas in the Asheville area, and how do I ask them about getting service to my home?
Most of Brevard is propane country, so for many homes there's no natural-gas utility to call — you choose a local propane supplier who sets and fills the tank, and we connect it. Closer to downtown a few streets may reach an Enbridge Gas North Carolina main, so it's worth giving them your address to check. Either fuel runs the same fireplaces.
Propane, and why that's no downside
Out toward Connestee Falls, Sherwood Forest, and the cabins tucked into Pisgah Forest, there's no gas main under the road — the supplier is a propane company you pick, and they own and fill the tank. That's the one piece we coordinate rather than provide; everything else is ours. Propane actually burns hotter per unit than natural gas, so the appliance is set up with the right orifices and pressures for it. Get that wrong and it soots; get it right and you'd never know the difference.
