Many Backgrounds. One Standard.
Arden, North Carolina

Who supplies natural gas in the Asheville area, and how do I ask them about getting service to my home?

Arden is on natural gas, supplied by Enbridge Gas North Carolina — the old PSNC — with well-established mains along the Hendersonville Road corridor. Call them with your address to confirm your street and the tap. But the request we hear most here is fixing tired, drafty open fireplaces: a sealed gas insert turns one from a heat-loser into a real heater.

Turning a heat-loser into a heater

The 1980s and 90s homes in Royal Pines, Skyland, and Glenn Bridge mostly came with open masonry fireplaces, and after decades they do more harm than good — an open firebox pulls warm room air straight up the chimney and can run a net heat loss on a cold night. Dropping a sealed gas insert into that existing opening, vented through a stainless liner, flips the equation: you get an appliance that's 70 percent efficient or better, lights instantly, and holds heat instead of exporting it.

Because Arden already sits on the mains, these conversions are usually clean — the gas is at or near the house, and we run the branch line from the meter to the hearth. Spec battery-backup or millivolt ignition and the insert keeps working through an outage, which is a common ask along this corridor since the last one.

Utility to the meter, us past it — plus Biltmore Park

Enbridge owns the main, the tap, and the meter and quotes any new connection; everything downstream is licensed gas-piping work that a furniture showroom or mason legally can't perform. We size and run the line, set the appliance, pull the Buncombe County permit, and meet the inspector. The large retail and office spaces around Biltmore Park get the same single-source treatment for lobby and patio gas features.

Arden is only about 15 minutes south of our Asheville showroom, so service calls are quick and the common parts ride on the truck. Call (828) 545-0525 and we'll look at that old firebox and what it could become.
