How much does it cost to reface or update the look of an existing fireplace?

In Candler, the common reface is a fast-growing subdivision's basic decorative firebox getting both a new look and, usually, a real upgrade — because owners here quickly want heat, not just a flame. Materials and demolition set the price. It's cosmetic work priced under replacement, and we factor in the fuel, whether that's propane out here or a gas line.

From decorative to heat-producing

Candler's new subdivisions came with basic, decorative builder-grade fireboxes — pleasant to look at, light on heat — and within a few years owners want the real thing. A reface is the natural moment: set a sealed insert into the opening so it actually warms the room, then finish the new stone or tile around it a single time. In Hominy Valley's natural bowl, where air can settle, a clean-burning sealed appliance is easier on air quality than an open fire — another reason the upgrade makes sense here rather than just dressing up a firebox that vents into the room.

Propane or gas, we run the line

Out around Enka-Candler and Hominy Valley, plenty of homes run on propane rather than a gas main, so a conversion behind the new face means an LP setup — correct orifices, correct pressure, a properly sized line, pressure-tested and permitted through Buncombe County. If you're on a gas line instead, the work's the same to us. Either way, running fuel is licensed work; a mason can build the surround but legally can't connect it. We handle appliance, line, permit, and finish as one crew. Candler is 15 minutes west of our Emma Road showroom.

See it before you build it

Choose the surround around the actual insert so nothing gets cut twice. Visit 629 Emma Road to handle stone and tile, or book a free in-home look and we'll stage the options against your wall and the room's light. Call (828) 545-0525.
