How much heat output (BTU) does a gas fireplace lose at mountain elevation?
Weaverville tells two BTU stories. At about 2,252 feet the elevation derate is right around one percent for everyone — negligible. A sealed insert or direct-vent unit closes that gap. The north-facing valley warms slowly in spring, so the heating season here runs long and the fix pays off.
