Is Heat & Glo the same company as Heatilator?
Not the same brand, but yes — same parent company. Both Heat & Glo and Heatilator are built by Hearth & Home Technologies, so they share engineering, the IntelliFire ignition system, and many parts. The difference is positioning: Heatilator is the practical, value-driven builder line, while Heat & Glo is the premium, designer-front side. We carry both.
Sister brands, different jobs
Under one roof, Hearth & Home Technologies builds several hearth brands — Heatilator and Heat & Glo among them; Quadra-Fire is another we service. Think of Heatilator as the dependable work truck and Heat & Glo as the trimmed-out version: the guts are related, but the fit, finish, glass, and front options step up considerably as you move to Heat & Glo.
That shared DNA is why a technician who knows one tends to know the other — the ignition, valves, and service logic carry across the family.
Where you'd choose one over the other
In new construction and straightforward remodels, Heatilator earns its keep — the Novus nXt 36 is a solid first gas fireplace at a fair price. When the fireplace is the centerpiece of a great room, or you want a clean-face linear unit with a TV above it, Heat & Glo's 6000CLX and Cosmo 42 are built for that role.
We see both weekly across WNC, and the right pick usually comes down to how much the fireplace is doing visually and how much heat the room needs. Bigger and pricier isn't automatically better — we'd rather match the unit to your room than sell you up a tier.
What sharing a parent means for parts and service
Because both run Hearth & Home's IntelliFire ignition and common valve platforms, replacement parts and glass are well-supported, and a technician can diagnose either without hunting for oddball components. That's a real advantage in the mountains, where you want a unit you can still get parts for a decade out.
