Is it safe to install a wood stove in a mobile home?

Required: a mobile-home-listed stove, ducted outside air, floor anchoring, a listed hearth pad with verified clearances, and a listed chimney. A stove set in casually is the opposite of backup you can trust.
Backup heat that doesn't need the grid
When the power failed across Buncombe after Helene, the homes that stayed warm were the ones with a working wood or gas hearth — and a wood stove is total grid independence, heat you own outright. Wood is the gold standard here precisely because it asks nothing of the utility. That case is even stronger in a manufactured home, which can't fall back on central heat when the electricity quits. But 'independent' only holds if the install is right: the stove must be listed for mobile homes, drawing combustion air through a dedicated duct from outdoors, or an airtight home can depressurize and pull smoke and carbon monoxide backward down the flue.
