Coverage by neighborhood, not by city limit
Being inside Asheville doesn't guarantee a gas main at your curb. The lines were built out along the busy corridors, so a Montford or Kenilworth block near a main is an easy tap, while a pocket up one of the steeper streets can sit a few hundred feet past where the pipe ends. That gap is exactly the kind of thing we confirm before we quote anything — we check what's actually in your street, not what the map suggests. Where there's no main, propane runs the same fireplaces just as well; it only needs a tank from your supplier and the correct orifices, which we set during the install.
Old masonry downtown, clean-face gas to the south
Asheville's housing splits the decision for you as much as the fuel does. The historic homes in Montford and North Asheville tend to have original masonry fireplaces — big, drafty, and beautiful, but often a net heat loss when they're open. A sealed gas insert like a Napoleon Oakville or a Regency drops into that firebox and turns it into a real heater. Newer South Asheville construction leans the other way, toward clean-face linear units — a Heat & Glo 6000CLX or a Napoleon Vector — that suit the modern rooms they're built into.
