What are electric fireplace mantel packages and TV-stand fireplaces?

A mantel package is an electric firebox paired with a matching wood or MDF mantel and surround as one furniture-style unit — you set it against a wall, plug it in, done. A TV-stand fireplace is the same idea built into a low media console, with a fireplace across the front and a top that holds a TV. Both are plug-in, no venting, no gas.

Who they're for

These win for renters, apartments, and rooms with no chimney and no gas line. There's no permit, no venting, nothing to run — you get instant flame at the push of a button and about 5,000 BTU of supplemental warmth to take the chill off a bedroom or office. For a lot of WNC homes where the living room already has a real hearth, a mantel package is a nice way to add a second, low-commitment fire somewhere else.

Know the limits before you lean on one

Two honest caveats. First, electric won't heat a whole house — it's supplemental, not a furnace. Second, it goes dark in a power outage; after Helene, that matters. If you want real, power-optional heat, a direct-vent gas or a wood unit is the move, and that's our licensed lane — sealed combustion, a proper vent, and heat that keeps going when the grid doesn't.

Where we add value

Freestanding mantel-package and TV-stand pieces are essentially furniture. Where Steady Flame earns its keep is the built-in look: recessing a linear electric like a Dimplex flush into a framed media wall so it reads custom, not off-the-shelf — and doing the same job in gas if you'd rather have outage-proof heat.
