What do I need to do to get my gas fire pit running again after it sat unused all winter?
In Fletcher, the airport corridor and I-26 subdivisions mean a lot of hard-piped natural-gas pits, at commercial patios and builder-grade back yards alike, so spring startup usually skips the tank. Instead, clear the burner and venturi of spider nests, dry and drain the pan, and check the shutoff valve and ignition module before the first burn.
Hard-piped means a different checklist
Fletcher sits on the natural-gas mains, and commercial demand along the airport corridor for gas fireplaces and outdoor features runs ahead of the surrounding residential areas. A lot of pits here are hard-piped, which changes the startup: there's no tank to gauge, but there is a buried line, a manual shutoff cock, a burner pan that collects our mountain rain, and an electronic ignition module. Work through all four. Water pooled in the pan over winter is the quiet reason many of these won't light clean in spring.
Builder-grade back yards
The 1990s subdivisions around Cane Creek and Howard Gap came with builder-grade setups, and their pits get the same overwinter squatters as anyone's: spiders packing the burner and venturi, throwing a weak, uneven flame. Brush the ports clear, blow out the venturi, and re-spread the lava rock evenly. If yours happens to run on a portable propane cylinder instead, swap in the tank, hose, and regulator check and soapy-water test the fittings.
20 minutes south, licensed and permitted
Whether it's a home patio or a commercial space, a buried natural-gas line is licensed work we permit with Henderson County and meet the inspector on. A landscaper or general contractor legally can't make the fuel connection here. We're 20 minutes south. Call (828) 545-0525.
