What do I need to do to get my gas fire pit running again after it sat unused all winter?

In Hendersonville, many patio pits belong to retirement-minded homeowners who chose push-button electronic ignition, so start there: a dead igniter battery or a spider-blocked spark gap is the usual reason it won't catch after sitting. Then clear the burner ports, gauge the propane, and inspect the hose and regulator for winter cracks before lighting.

Electronic ignition is the first suspect

Hendersonville's retirement community tends to favor quiet, low-maintenance sealed gas, and that carries outdoors to push-button and electronic-ignition fire pits. The catch is that the battery in the igniter dies over a long off-season, and spiders love to nest right in the spark gap where they can bridge or block the spark. Before you assume the whole pit is dead, replace the battery and clear the igniter. If it sparks clean and there's fuel, you're most of the way there. If it clicks with no spark and the gap is clear, the module itself may be the issue.

Henderson County clay moves things

The clay-heavy soil that settles foundations and stresses older masonry chimneys here also heaves patios and shifts any buried gas line over a wet winter. On a hard-piped pit, look closely at where the line enters the pit for strain or a loosened fitting; on a cylinder pit, brush a little soapy water on the tank connection and hose, open the gas with no flame, and watch for growing bubbles. Bubbles mean a leak, so shut it off. Re-seat the fire glass or lava rock evenly so it isn't piling over the ports.
