What is fireplace refacing and what does it involve?
In Mills River, refacing means dressing your fireplace in a new surface — stone veneer, tile, or stacked stone — while the firebox and fuel connection stay in place. Indoor reface, outdoor reface
Inside, refacing is the highest-impact update short of a full replacement: keep the working firebox, change the wall around it. A furniture showroom can sell you the firebox; in North Carolina only a licensed gas contractor can legally connect it to fuel, and that's our lane.
The base still has to be sound
Whether the finish is stone or tile, it only lasts if the substrate beneath it is solid and the clearances to combustibles around the opening are honored. We confirm the masonry or prefab base, prep painted brick with lath so the material bonds, and cut the new surface clean around the firebox — mason partners on heavy stone, thin veneer on the prepped wall.
