A wood stove is only as good as its chimney and clearances. We run Class A chimney where there isn't one, honor the clearance-to-combustibles specs to the inch, and pull the permit with your county — Buncombe, Henderson, Haywood, or Transylvania — then meet the inspector. Draft is harder at elevation, and our ridges and tall trees cause downdrafts, so chimney height and placement get more thought here than they would in flat country.
