The efficiency only you control

The rating on the label assumes dry, seasoned wood — burn wet wood and you spend your BTUs boiling water instead of heating the room, no matter what stove you own. Placement, hearth clearances, and a properly sized liner round out the difference between rated and real-world performance, and an annual sweep protects both the efficiency and the flue.
