In Brevard, size depends on whether you're heating a downtown home lived in daily or a mountain cabin used on weekends. A cabin that sits cold then needs to warm fast can take a medium stove with some reserve; a steadily occupied downtown house sizes right to its main living space. Cabin or in-town — different jobs
The Brevard picture splits two ways. A downtown Brevard house that's occupied all winter holds its heat, so a stove sized to the room it lives in keeps a comfortable, even burn. A cabin out toward Connestee Falls or the Pisgah edge that sits empty midweek is a different problem: you arrive to a cold shell and want heat now, which argues for a stove with a little reserve capacity so it can drive the chill out fast without being run past its limit. Neither case wants a stove so big you smother it once the room warms up.
Wet-country venting matters as much as size
