When is the best time to schedule a fireplace installation?

In Brevard, rain writes the schedule. With 80-plus inches a year and the wettest stretch running March through June, the drier late-June-to-October window is when roof penetrations, chimney chases, and venting work should be opened and sealed. And because much of Brevard runs on propane, tank-and-supplier coordination adds lead time — start the conversation in spring.

Eighty inches of rain is hard on everything we'd touch

Transylvania County rainfall cracks chimney crowns, spalls brick, and rusts dampers, and Brevard's crawl spaces and chimney chases are especially prone to moisture damage — exactly the parts of a house an installation opens up. We'd rather flash a roof penetration or cut a sidewall vent in the dry months than race a front coming over the ridge in April. Wood and chimney projects mean two to three days of exterior work; sealed gas installs are faster but still want a dry day for the vent termination.

The wet season does have one use: it's the right time for the free in-home assessment, so the equipment decision, the quote, and the Transylvania County permit are already settled when the dry window opens.

Propane country, from downtown to the Connestee Falls cabins

Much of Brevard runs on propane, and a propane hearth involves one more party than a natural-gas one — we run and pressure-test the piping, set the regulator, and connect the appliance as the licensed gas contractor, while your propane supplier coordinates the tank. That sequencing is smooth when it starts in spring and rushed when it starts in October. American-made cold-climate units built for propane are a staple out here for good reason. We pull the permit, meet the inspector, and the showroom at 629 Emma Rd is about 40 minutes northeast when you want to compare flames in person. Call (828) 545-0525.
