Who should service a gas fireplace — an HVAC company, a plumber, or a fireplace dealer?
Out on Mills River's large rural lots, many homes run on propane, and that points straight to a fireplace dealer who's a licensed gas contractor, not an HVAC company or a plumber. LP appliances need different orifices and pressures than the mains carry, and a hearth specialist tunes them right where a general trade guesses.
Propane, rural lots, and the right technician
The scattered farmland-and-forest properties around Horse Shoe and Banner Farm mostly heat off a tank. The tank stays with your propane supplier, but the regulator, the appliance connection, and the tuning belong to a hearth crew. A wrong-fuel setup soots the glass and fouls the burner, and a plumber who runs the line usually isn't the one who diagnoses a fussy electronic ignition afterward. Our NFI-certified technicians handle LP and natural gas both, so the flame burns the way the manufacturer intended instead of leaving a black film behind. An HVAC tech, for the record, works furnaces and ducts, which aren't our trade or the fireplace's.
Fire pits carry the same license outdoors
Mills River's open valley is made for outdoor living, and gas fire pits and permanent patio heaters follow the very same rule as an indoor hearth: a buried, outdoor-rated line is licensed work that has to be permitted and pressure-tested. A landscaper or hardscaper can build you a gorgeous surround, but connecting it to fuel is our job, not theirs. Plan the install in late spring, before entertaining season.
Outdoor kitchens: we do the gas, they do the counters
Plenty of Mills River properties are adding outdoor kitchens, and the split matters: your builder or hardscaper pours the counters and sets the stone, while we handle the gas and appliance side, the buried line, the grill hard-plumbing, and the permit. A general trade can't legally connect that fuel any more than it can connect an indoor hearth, so the licensed gas contractor is the through-line from the firebox indoors to the fire pit out back.
