Why does my electric fireplace show flames but blow no heat?
The flame effect and the heater are two separate systems, so flames with no warmth is normal in several cases. The heat may simply be switched off, or the thermostat set below room temperature, so it's already satisfied. If heat is on and there's still nothing, an overheat cutoff has likely tripped or the element or fan has failed. The flames keep running either way.
Two systems in one cabinet
It helps to understand that an electric fireplace runs two independent things. The flame effect is just LEDs and a small motor — it sips power and looks the same whether or not the heater is on. The heater is a separate element plus a fan that pulls a lot more current. Because they're wired and controlled separately, it's completely normal to have a beautiful flame and zero heat.

The easy misses
Before assuming failure, run the checklist. Make sure the heat switch is actually on — it's often a separate control from the flame. Then check the thermostat: if it's set below the current room temperature, the unit reads the room as warm enough and won't fire the element. Bump the setpoint up and listen for the fan.
Also check the air intake and any filter on the back or bottom. A blocked intake causes the unit to overheat and trip its safety cutoff, which shuts the heater down while leaving the flame lit. Clear the vent, let it cool, and try again.
When the heater has actually failed
If heat is switched on, the thermostat's turned up, and the intake is clear but you're still getting cold air, the heating element, its relay, or the blower has likely given out. That's an internal repair.
