Why does my propane tank frost over while my fire pit is running?
Frost on a propane tank means the tank is working hard to keep up — as liquid propane boils into gas it pulls heat from the tank walls, and when your fire pit draws a lot of BTUs, or the tank is small or low, that cooling outpaces the tank's ability to vaporize, so moisture freezes on the outside. The physics of vaporization
Propane leaves your tank as a gas, but inside it's a liquid — and turning liquid into vapor pulls heat out of the tank walls.
