What makes a Real Fyre log a Real Fyre log

Realism, mostly — and it's not subtle. Real Fyre casts its logs from real oak, so the bark texture, checking, and grain come from an actual tree, then each piece is hand-painted. The set we display, the Charred American Oak 24-inch vented set, is the closest a gas flame gets to a real wood fire: tall, lazy yellow flames weaving through logs that look like they've been burning all afternoon. Big-box sets can burn perfectly safely, but the molds are simpler, the finish is sprayed, and the flame tends to sit in front of the logs rather than moving through them.

The half of the job that isn't in the box

A gas log set is only as good as its setup, and this is where most disappointments start. The set has to be sized to your firebox. It has to match your fuel — propane burns hotter than natural gas and needs different orifices and pressures, and a wrong-fuel setup soots. The damper has to be handled correctly, because vented logs run with it open.

And in North Carolina, connecting any log set to gas is licensed work — a store can sell you the box, but they legally can't hook it to fuel. We can, and we permit and pressure-test every line we run.

One honest caveat, whatever brand you choose

Vented gas logs are ambiance, not a heater — most of the heat goes up the chimney with the damper open. That's true for Real Fyre and true for every big-box set, and anyone telling you otherwise is selling.
