Many Backgrounds. One Standard.
Candler, North Carolina

Are there extra safety or installation requirements for a fireplace in a short-term rental like an Airbnb?

Yes. Candler's fast-growing subdivisions came with basic decorative fireboxes, and owners renting them out quickly want real, guest-safe heat instead. Newer Enka-Candler streets reach natural gas while outlying properties run on propane — either way a licensed connection. A rental also needs carbon monoxide and smoke detectors, a barrier screen on gas glass, and a Buncombe County permit.

Clean-Burning Matters in the Hominy Bowl

Hominy Valley sits in a natural bowl, and air can settle in it — which is exactly why a clean-burning, sealed appliance is the smart pick for a home you rent out. A sealed direct-vent gas fireplace keeps all its combustion sealed away from the room, better for a rotating cast of guests and for the valley's air quality than an open fire. The basic builder-grade fireboxes that came with Candler's new subdivisions rarely produce real heat, so an upgrade earns its keep the first cold weekend a guest books.

Fuel, Foolproof Appliance, and Safety

On the newer Enka-Candler streets you may be on the natural-gas main; on the outlying lots toward Pisgah Highway you are likely on propane, which needs the correct orifices and pressures to burn clean. Either way the connection is licensed work we permit and pressure-test. Carbon monoxide detectors are the baseline with any fuel-burning appliance, especially propane a guest runs unsupervised, and a barrier screen keeps a child off hot glass. Choose the wall-switch unit a stranger cannot get wrong.
