How the adjustment works
Flame height is just gas flow, and a variable valve lets you meter it. That range is one of gas's genuine advantages over wood — instant, precise control, no coaxing or feeding.

Turning it down saves more than gas
Running low isn't just about ambiance or fuel economy — though on propane, dialing back noticeably stretches a 20 lb cylinder. A lower flame is also gentler on the media and the pit itself over a long evening, and it's easier to sit close to on a mild WNC night when you want the look more than the heat.
