Many Backgrounds. One Standard.

No — not legally, and not safely. In North Carolina, connecting a gas fireplace to fuel is licensed work: the gas line has to be run, permitted, and pressure-tested by a licensed gas contractor. That's us. The venting and clearances carry real carbon-monoxide and fire risk if they're off, and DIY voids both your warranty and your insurance.

The law, plainly

In North Carolina, running or extending a gas line is licensed work. A furniture showroom or a mason can sell you a beautiful firebox, but they legally can't connect it to fuel — and neither can a homeowner. We can, and we permit and pressure-test every line we run, then meet the county inspector. That's not red tape for its own sake; it's the system that keeps a fuel line from becoming a fire or a leak.

This is our lane and no one else's. It's the single biggest reason a gas fireplace isn't a weekend project.

Beyond the gas line

Even setting the fuel aside, a gas fireplace has to vent correctly and hold exact clearances to combustibles. A direct-vent unit uses a sealed coaxial pipe out a sidewall or the roof; get the run, the termination, or the combustion air wrong and you risk carbon monoxide or a slow fire hazard behind the wall. These aren't things you eyeball.

And the moment a homeowner installs it, the manufacturer's warranty is void — so a small mistake can cost you the whole appliance's coverage.
