For Fairview, plan on an outdoor-rated gas log set or a purpose-built outdoor firebox rather than an indoor insert outdoors. This is propane country — wooded rural lots, many homes off the gas mains — so an outdoor conversion here usually runs off your tank, with the LP burner set to light clean and spare you the wood-hauling and fall creosote.

We set the LP orifices and regulator pressure so it burns clean rather than sooting, connect it, and pressure-test the line — the licensed gas work a mason or hardscaper legally can't do in North Carolina.
