Can I replace an old builder-grade gas fireplace with a new model?

Yes — Weaverville has two kinds of these jobs. In Reems Creek's newer construction, builder-grade gas boxes are already in place and ready to upgrade, while older downtown homes carry inefficient original fireboxes. Either way it's a clean swap for a modern sealed unit, on the natural-gas main, and most finish in a day.

New builds already have the box

A lot of Weaverville's growth landed in Reems Creek and the newer subdivisions, and those homes almost always came with a builder-grade gas fireplace — the value unit the builder installed to hit a price. Ten or fifteen years on, it looks dated and runs inefficiently, and owners want something with a better flame and real output. Replacing it is straightforward: we pull the old unit, verify the framing and rough opening, size the natural-gas line to the new BTU load, and set a modern direct-vent fireplace in its place.

Older downtown, same upgrade

Closer to downtown, the housing stock is older and the fireboxes original and drafty. The swap logic is the same — a sealed direct-vent replacement seals off the heat loss and lights on demand — but we pay extra attention to the existing vent, since older chases rarely match what a new, listed fireplace is certified to use. We plan on new co-axial venting so the unit runs exactly as tested. Weaverville's north-facing valley warms up slowly in spring, so a dependable fireplace stays useful well into the season.

Close to home, permit included

We're 15 minutes north of the Emma Rd showroom, so a Weaverville estimate is quick to arrange. Replacements require a Buncombe County permit and a passed inspection, and we pull and meet both. Compare Heatilator and Heat & Glo units in the showroom, or call (828) 545-0525 for a free in-home assessment.
