Many Backgrounds. One Standard.

Can the quoted price change after the work starts?

It shouldn't. A written quote is a fixed price for the work we scoped and saw. It only changes if we open a wall or chase and find something we genuinely couldn't see beforehand — rotted framing, old wiring, a compromised chimney. If that happens, we stop, show you, and get your approval before touching a thing or the price.

Why a real quote holds

Because we do a free in-home assessment before quoting, most of what could surprise us is caught up front — the gas-line distance, the venting path, the wall construction, the permit needs. That's the whole point of seeing the space instead of pricing off a photo. The number you sign is the number you pay.

We quote it upfront and in writing, with no mystery charges bolted on at the end. That's the standard on every install we do, from a simple gas log set to a full linear fireplace in a new feature wall.

The honest exception: hidden conditions

Older Asheville and Weaverville homes hide things behind their walls. Now and then we open up a chimney chase or a firebox surround and find a problem the previous owner papered over — a cracked flue, water damage, a masonry issue, wiring that isn't to code. We can't quote what nobody could see.

When that happens, work stops. We show you exactly what we found, explain your options, and give you a written change order. Nothing moves forward — and the price doesn't budge — until you say yes. You're never billed for a surprise you didn't approve.

How we keep surprises rare

The best defense against mid-job changes is a thorough assessment and, where it matters, an inspection before we start — especially on wood-to-gas conversions and insert jobs, where the existing chimney has to be sound. Catching a bad liner during planning is far cheaper than discovering it on install day.

If you're comparing quotes, ask each company how they handle unexpected conditions. A straight answer — stop, show, approve, then proceed — is the one you want. Call (828) 545-0525 with any quote questions.
