Do I need a bigger propane tank if I add a gas fireplace?
Brevard is propane country in our fuel map, so most homes adding a gas fireplace here feed it from a tank rather than a main. The good news: if that tank already runs your furnace and water heater at 250 or 500 gallons, a fireplace's modest draw slots in without an upsize. Small cylinders and marginal tanks are the exceptions.
Why Brevard runs on tanks
Out here in Transylvania County, natural-gas mains give way to propane — the same story as Fairview and Candler and the cabins. That means adding a fireplace is really two coordinated jobs: your propane supplier owns the tank and its capacity, and we own the licensed gas line, the regulator setup, and the appliance. A standard residential tank has plenty of headroom for a fireplace on top of the household load, so most Brevard additions never touch the tank size.

Brevard catches 80-plus inches of rain a year, and that punishes crowns, brick, and dampers — but it also means the outdoor components of a propane system live in a wet world.
