How much does it cost to buy or lease a propane tank when adding a gas fireplace?

It depends on whether you lease or own, and there's a real tradeoff. Most suppliers lease you a tank for a low or waived annual fee as long as you buy fuel from them; buying it outright costs more upfront but frees you to shop for the cheapest propane. The tank itself is arranged with your propane supplier, not us.

Lease or own, the real tradeoff

The propane tank itself is arranged with your fuel supplier rather than with us, and the two paths are lease or buy. Most suppliers lease you a tank for a low annual fee, sometimes waived entirely, as long as you buy your propane from them, so there's little upfront but you're tied to their fuel pricing.

Owning the tank costs more out of pocket at the start and makes you responsible for its upkeep, but it frees you to shop for the cheapest propane each fill. Ask your supplier for both numbers before you decide.

Size drives the conversation

How big a tank you need, and therefore what it costs, depends on total load rather than the fireplace alone. If a furnace and water heater already run on propane, a fireplace may share the existing tank with no new tank at all.

If you're starting from scratch out in Fairview, Candler, or Brevard, or up at a cabin, the supplier sizes the tank to your whole appliance list. We calculate the fireplace's demand and tell you where it lands.

Who does which part

Your supplier owns, sets, and inspects a leased tank and handles the fuel. We handle everything that makes fire and heat, the regulator, the gas piping, and the appliance connection, all permitted and pressure-tested.

One licensed company on the burning side and your propane company on the tank side, coordinated so nothing falls through the crack. Call (828) 545-0525 and we'll map it out.
