Lease or own, and sizing

Leasing keeps upfront cost low with a small or waived yearly fee tied to buying fuel from that supplier; owning costs more but lets you shop per-gallon. Your supplier sizes the tank to your whole appliance load — if a furnace or water heater already runs propane, the fireplace often shares the existing tank rather than needing a new one.
